On January 16th, TY travelled to Galway to watch a documentary on Tomi Reichental.
What struck you about the event?
The fact that so many people didn’t survive is really striking. It's also hard to think that these harsh events went on for so long. I didn't think that the holocaust events affected Ireland/Irish people, so I was really shook by this.
When the genocide was being spoken about in the documentary, it was very unsettling. I didn't realise that millions of Irish were also involved.
What was surprising?
I found it very surprising that there are people today who were involved in the holocaust and don't think their actions were wrong. It also surprised me that people who were involved with it are still being arrested today.
What actions does this inspire?
This inspires me to be thankful that there are no events like this taking place today in our society. It also inspires me to treat everyone as equal as possible so we can practice equality.
