On the 23rd of April, Tuesday morning at 1/4 to 1, all 47 students and three teachers headed off on a bus to Dublin airport to catch a flight to Barcelona. It was my first time flying in about 9 years so it was really exciting.
We landed in Barcelona at around 10am their time. There we met our tour bus and tour guide Jess. Jess outlined the major landmarks as we passed them and gave us a quick background story of each one. We then arrived at the Cosmo Caixa museum. This was a science museum and it was really interesting. There we got lunch and relaxed. After this, we toured Barcelona and visited the famous places and even got to see the Guadi Cathedral. Finally, we went to cable cars which brought us to the top of Mountjuic. On the top of this was a beautiful castle. When we came down we took the two hour journey back to the hotel we were staying in, in Salou. The hotel was fabulous, but the food not so much!! At 8pm we went bowling. This was really fun although we were all extremely tired.
The next day we left the hotel at around 9:30am to visit the Gaudi Museum. This museum consisted of all Gaudis creations, along with a little movie explaining it all. After this, we visited Portaventura. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Even though the lines were hours long, they were worth it for the rides at the end of them. After a few hours here, we went back to the hotel and went to the local beach where we went into the water in the cold because you can't go to Spain and not go to the beach! Some of us then went back to the pool in the hotel where we had fun jumping in. After this we were given some free time to look around at night. During this time we went and got food that was actually edible!
On our last day we started it by packing our bags and leaving the hotel for Tarragona. Here we viewed the ampi theatre which was really beautiful. Then we had a break and set off for Camp Nou. I don't even watch soccer but the stadium and the tour itself was really interesting. Lastly we went to Maramagnum shopping centre. Here we all went mad spending every last euro we had. Then we hit for the airport and made it home safetly.
Barcelona was definitely my most favourite thing this year and definitely the best holiday I've had. My second day was the favourite and the shopping was fun. I would definitely love to return there someday.
